Devotion for the day
Hebrews 12:11Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
Good morning dear Brothers and Sisters, How are you doing today? Well some of you are not that great. Allow me to talk to you today through God’s word.
When trouble comes into your life, you sometimes feel as if you’ve been hit broadside. You feel desperation, depression and disappointment then wonder why is this happening to me?
One possibility is that God is using a painful experience to get your attention. In Psalm 119:71, David wrote, “It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn your statutes.” And in Hebrews 12:11 says that chastening “Yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness.”
Is God using pain in your life to lovingly persuade you to change? The season of trouble may not be easy, but if we let ourselves be trained by it, new growth will result as we become more like His Son.
Dear beloved friend, what is bothering you today? Are you emotionally depressed, disappointed in life about certain problem you are facing today?
Do not wait another minute trying to figure out why certain evil things have happened to you. You may never know the answer. However, do not use that as an excuse to get into self-pity. Leave it alone, get up, and move on with your life. Trust God and accept the fact that there will be some answered questions. Also, remember that just because you do not know the answer does not mean that one does not exit.
You must walk out of any emotional bondage in which you have been living. Learn to do what David did: Just wash your face, keep a good attitude, and move on.
If you will stay in an attitude of faith and victory, God has promised that He will turn those emotional wounds around.
He will use them to your advantage, and you will come out better than you would have had they not happened to you.
Listen to me very carefully; Affliction for God’s people can be the pruning knife to prepare us for greater fruitfulness. God may be taking you through pain to give you peace, suffering to give you strength, hardships to give you happiness and problems to give you power.
Will you surrender your situation at His cross and trust in His might power for redemption today.

Have a Blessed day, God bless

Pastor John Spurgeon
Thank you for sharing, John. I hope in upcoming devotionals you will take opportunities, as God encourages you, to tell some of your personal experience in dealing with hardships of the past, emotional wounds. I love how you presented God's Word and then asked some questions and then directed the reader to think about a response. We should always be moved to some type of action/response when we read God's Word.
ReplyDeleteIn my personal life, I have not found it to be simple to 'wash my face' and walk on to the new day. I think if we are able to handle each hurt that way as they come it is easier and such a blessing.
What gets harder in life is when we come to know the Lord after we have thousands of emotional wounds absorbed into the makeup of our being, when they have shaped and formed us - even deformed us.
Simply washing a deformed child does not wash away all injuries and enable her to miraculously get up and walk 'normal' as they nothing ever happened. Even after steps of forgiveness, Bible learning and time building a relationship with God, 'moving forward' is more pictured as a wounded warrior recovery as a solider coming out of the evils of war and needing time to heal.
Not in self-pity but in soaking in and applying the Balm of Gilead (God's Word) carefully and thoroughly to ensure the best possible recovery possible on this side of heaven to the horrible wound inflicted.
We-the Church- are very good at helping people with current wounds that come in everyones life. While they are very emotionally painful during the time experienced, we are able to progress through them at a good steady pace by applying God Word quickly so roots do not grow and also so we are not negatively shaped by the pains we encounter.
Whenever, I read something I have two remember people come in many different levels of wounds. I often think It is ashamed churches don't have a way to triage members - to assess what care each needs and what special grace one might be given out of sheer necessity. And it is here -at this comment - that God reminds me. Child, that is my job - I do the triage work. I am the Physician. I set up the healing plan uniquely for each. The wounded must learn to come directly to Me to be healed.
And it is exactly by you, dear John, pointing readers to Jesus and His Word that they will find Him Who Heals.
Have a nice day.
