Devotion for the day January 28
Psalm 37:3 Trust in the Lord…
As I was watching my daughter Jordan in emergency room on Sunday, I took my eyes off the Lord and started to panic and worry about her health condition. Watching me sink in my faith and security of our Lord; my spiritual sister, who was in ER room reminded that God is in control and everything is going to be ok.
In a way I was like Apostle Peter who chose to trust Jesus and step out of the boat, and for few moments he must have known the joy of walking on the water with complete security. But when he took his eyes off the Lord, he lost that security and he began to sink.
Dear brother and sisters, if we want to experience God’s enablement we must choose to trust Him and then actively continue that trust. Psalm 37:3,7says: Trust in the Lord, and do good; ……Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him
Remember, trust is a choice and a continuing activity of believing and obeying God
D. L. Moody said, “Trust in yourself, and you are doomed to disappointment; trust in your friends, and they will die and leave you; trust in reputation, and some slanderous tongue may blast it; but trust in God, and you are never to be confounded in time or eternity.” Luther gave a similar testimony when he said, “I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.”
The Lord wants us to trust in Him when we face any test; but the choice is up to us to struggle or to rest.
Thought for the day: God tests our faith so that we may trust His faithfulness
Have a blessed weekend
